GVSU Student Credit Hours

Show notes

About this report:

Student Credit Hours (SCH) equal the sum of individual course credits attempted by all students in applicable courses. For example, a section of a 3-credit course that has 40 students enrolled accounts for 120 SCH. A department that (miraculously) offers 10 courses just like that is generating 1,200 SCH.

Data shown are from the census date for the listed semester. Departments, and Prefixes reflect the organizational stucture in place at the time of the course. However, college structure (specifically that of CECI) has been imposed retroactively to simplify the data presentation.

Credits for cross-listed courses are applied to the course/department/college for which the student enrolled (e.g. if one-third of the students in a cross-listed section signed up for SBA 340 and the others signed up for SBB 340, then one third of the SCH belong in SBA's department.)

"Informal" modality applies to courses that are not explicitly designated as online or hybrid, but which have no recorded meeting pattern (specifically no days of the week and no room). This encompasses a wide variety of course activities, including independent studies, practica, and internships.
